“Outsider music at it’s most extreme, this German band could teach it’s Americana musical cousins a thing or three about dark and dirty music” – Americana-UK
With his peculiar banjo playing, the deep punctuating notes of his basspedal, brief kazoo fillers, & a distinct vocal delivery, ex-cabbie & punk rock scoundrel Dad Horse Ottn aka The Dad Horse Experience has gone from stumbling through a hard & sinful life to picking himself up & pushing on towards redemption, with little more than a banjo in his hands, a bass pedal at his feets & a message on his tongue. A gospel preaching, banjo plucking outsider artist from Bremen, Northern Germany who howls “turn the shit into gold!” as his saving grace. Described as "Dark Roots" & "Outlaw Gospel", Ottn himself dubbed it Kellergospel (Keller = German for Cellar). Drewing lyrical inspiration from life's experiences & American Gospel, he is mixing Old Time Country Gospel & classic Singer/Songwriter with Garage, Punk & Oom-pah-pah Polka. Live shows might often get booted with substantial parts of spoken word providing weird tales & obscurity.

Since 2008 The Dad Horse XP published five albums beside an EP & four vinyl singles & contributed to several outlaw country compilations all over the world. Extensive touring brought him to nearly all parts of Europe, Russia, Australia & the United States. Beside numberless club shows between Melbourne, Memphis & Madrid he played several international festival gigs like the Muddy Roots Music Festivals (Tennessee, USA & Belgium), the International Bluegrass Festival (Yekaterinburg, Russia), the Blues Rules Crissier Festival (Switzerland), the Mona Foma Festival (Tasmania) & the Falls Art & Music Festival (Victoria, Australia).

LIVE PERFORMANCES

THE DAD HORSE EXPERIENCE - SOLO SHOW
For capacities between 30 & 300, working in a seated bar or theatre as well as in a rowdy-crowdy club or tent, sets between 30 – 150 min. Dad's playing tenor banjo, electric banjo, mandoline, bass pedal & kazoo, singing & (if it's appropriate to the setting) telling weird philosophical stories between the songs. Occasionaly Mr. Ottn is accompanied by a beautiful lady singing backing vocals & strumming a ukulele (= Dad Horse XP+).
His orginal song repertoire covers different styles from singer/songwriter, country gospel, oom-pah-pah polka up to garage blues & punk & he could easily match the need & mood of any given crowd.
It's entertaining. It's unique. It's inspirational. It's fun.
THE DAD HORSE EXPERIENCE XL - XXL
For capacities between 50 to 5.000, 30 – 90 min. Dad with rhythm section and/or violin, wind instruments. All tempi in the highest atmospheric intensity focussing on the hard-boiled & dancable pieces of his repertoire: gospel from punk to country & back to the belly or right between the eyes.
